One of our favorite projects so far was building simple ramps and experimenting with how the height of the ramp affects how far a toy car can travel. Students used different materials to build their ramps, tested their predictions, and even started asking questions like, \"What happens if we add weight to the car?\" It was a perfect opportunity for them to engage in hands-on learning while practicing inquiry, observation, and collaboration.\r\n\r\nTheir faces light up with excitement! They were instantly drawn to the bright, colorful pieces and couldn't wait to start building. Some of them immediately started constructing tall towers, while others began making mini obstacle courses. It was amazing to see how naturally they dove into creative play that also supported our learning goals. For many of my bilingual students, these materials offered a powerful way to express their ideas and understanding nonverbally while still building academic vocabulary.\r\n\r\nAfter this, we started diving deeper into how simple machines like levers and pulleys work. Using the new materials, students will explore how these tools help lift or move objects more easily. They'll design their own \"helping machines\" and explain how they work, combining their creativity with their growing understanding of force and motion. It's a great way to build on their curiosity while introducing basic engineering concepts in a fun, age-appropriate way.","fullyFundedDate":1746785375716,"projectUrl":"project/tinker-twist-and-turn-tk-learners-exp/9308031/","projectTitle":"Tinker, Twist, and Turn: TK Learners Explore Machines","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rugamas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8994801_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1680054042691","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8994801"},{"teacherId":8994801,"projectId":9148567,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed into a more inclusive and engaging space for our bilingual learners. The Spanish puzzles have become a classroom favorite—students light up when they see them during centers or small group time. One memorable moment happened during our \"Vocabulary Builders\" project, when a group of students worked together to complete the word puzzle on fruits and vegetables in Spanish. Not only were they practicing new words, but they were also helping each other—it was a beautiful moment of collaboration and confidence building.\r\n\r\nWhen the wobble seats arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students rushed to try them out, and those who typically struggle to sit still were finally able to focus during our literacy blocks. These seats have truly given our energetic learners the movement they need to have them focus on the lesson/task at hand.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving our students the opportunity to learn in a way that respects their needs and celebrates their strengths. Your generosity is making a lasting impact on their education and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1743123056139,"projectUrl":"project/building-bridges-puzzles-wobble-seats/9148567/","projectTitle":"Building Bridges: Puzzles & Wobble Seats for a Bilingual Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rugamas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8994801_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1680054042691","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8994801"},{"teacherId":8970400,"projectId":8855036,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in helping bring new resources into our kindergarten classroom! These materials have already had an incredible impact on my students' learning and creativity. Recently, we used our new art supplies to complete a project inspired by reindeer and their tundra habitat. The students applied their growing knowledge of reindeer behaviors to create vibrant tundra landscapes using pawing pastel oil and mixed media. This activity not only gave them the chance to express themselves artistically but also deepened their understanding of animal habitats and ecosystems.\r\n\r\nThe joy on my students' faces when they first explored their sketchbooks and new art corner was priceless. Their eyes lit up with excitement as they experimented with the vibrant colors and textures of the pastels, markers, and other materials. Watching them collaborate and take pride in their work has been so rewarding. These resources have created an inspiring space where their creativity flourishes and their confidence grows.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue integrating art into other areas of our learning. For example, we will use these materials to illustrate stories during our writer's workshop and create visual representations of science concepts. These tools have truly transformed our classroom into a more engaging and dynamic learning environment.
