The students were so intrigued and excited to read this novel. Our 4th graders were very engaged and loved this novel, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Even when we stopped our reading for the day, I had students begging for the next chapter. This normally, doesn't ever happen with our regular school curriculum. \r\n\r\nStudents improved so much in their comprehension skills! The complex and rich vocabulary that was embedded in this text, pushed students to question and brought deeper understanding. Students were able to make text to self connections with the text and many of the characters in this novel, including Edward Tulane. I saw more engagement and improvement in reading stamina and reading comprehension skills! \r\n\r\nAs a culminating activity, students had to create a timeline of Edward's Tulane journey. I was so amazed at their ability to recall many details from the novel and connect how each person that Edward encountered was a major event. Students showed great understanding. We can't thank you enough for your investment and this wonderful 4th grade memory you made for the students! I can tell they will remember this novel from years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1725571255156,"projectUrl":"project/miraculous-reading-with-a-miraculous-nov/8539603/","projectTitle":"Miraculous Reading With a Miraculous Novel","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rasmussen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5837699_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1676190307460","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5837699"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7619","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":199,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":75,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":7619,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Annalee Avenue Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Annalee Avenue Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/annalee-avenue-elementary-school/7619"}
