These materials have already made such a meaningful impact on our students' learning, creativity, and play.\r\n\r\nThe **counting bears and bear scale** have made math hands-on and engaging. Students love sorting, counting, comparing, and experimenting with the bears while developing early math concepts such as number sense, patterns, more and less, and measurement. The scale has encouraged students to make predictions and test their ideas, turning math into an exciting investigation.\r\n\r\nThe **musical instruments** have brought so much joy and energy into our classroom! Students are exploring rhythm, beat, volume, and different sounds while developing confidence and self-expression. Music has also become a wonderful way for our children to connect with one another and participate as a group.\r\n\r\nOur **light table** has quickly become a favorite area in the classroom. Students are using it to explore colors, shapes, patterns, transparency, and visual effects. It encourages them to slow down, observe closely, experiment, and wonder. It has created opportunities for both independent exploration and collaborative learning.\r\n\r\nAnd the **Magna-Tiles** have been a huge hit! Students are designing buildings, creating structures, solving problems, and working together to bring their ideas to life. As they build and rebuild, they are developing spatial awareness, creativity, persistence, fine-motor skills, and early engineering skills. They had so much learning about the graphic novel as an art form. We learned different design choices graphic novel artists must use in order to adapt a novel. \r\n\r\nA fifth grade standard is analyzing text and comparing to see the difference in tone, beauty, and meaning of a text. Having access to the graphic novel and the book was such a unique way to work within this standard. My students had amazing insights on what they thought was a better representation and many agreed that the novel form was better. A Wrinkle in Time was featured heavily in Stranger Things, which many of my students had seen, so it was really nice for them to make those connections to something that was in the cultural zeitgeist. There is no way I could have afforded a class set on my own. I only receive 500 dollars for the whole year, so having a class set of a Wrinkle in Time felt extra special. Thank you so much. \r\n\r\nWe also learn about the history of enslavement in fifth grade and Clint Smith's book is a perfect introduction to this dark time in history. His writing is beautiful and he writes in a way that invites learners in. I have particularly enjoyed using the Teach and Store Chart Stand. We use it for our small group time and it's perfect for a portable/magnetic/whiteboard. I've hung a pocket chart on one side and it helps with our word study lessons. The students also use the magnetic whiteboard for a rollercoaster STEM set we have. It helps them build their problem solving and engineering skills. \r\n\r\nWe have put our \"Purrble\" soothing companion and breathing balls to good use! The students will run to get them when a classmate needs something to help them calm down when sad or frustrated.
