Having a stocked classroom library creates such a lasting impact on their academic skills and their social-emotional skills.\r\n\r\nThe stories like \"Biscuit\" and \"Pete the Cat\" have been added to the Accelerated Reader (AR) shelf. In a Title 1 school, there are such a wide range of reading levels. Some students are beginning readers, and some can read way above grade level. The students have been reading relentlessly since we received our new additions to our classroom library. Students have loved the refresh and exploring new genres and authors. \r\nReading in the classroom at middle school is homework daily, but also here for those students who are finishing assignments early in English or another one of their seven classes. Reading in middle school also allows us to read novels as a class and discuss their themes. At times, we are even able to take the novels we read and compare them to the adapted screenplay. This is fascinating to them, the process of what stays and what goes. \r\n\r\nThe current hot books in here are from The Summer I Turned Pretty series. They are flying off the shelves. The students are using the skills they have learned about novels to screenplays with the television shows they are watching at home. It is fascinating to listen to the discussions and watch them share the books and pass them back and forth.","fullyFundedDate":1733270427574,"projectUrl":"project/so-many-books-so-much-time-to-read/8958559/","projectTitle":"So Many Books, So Much Time to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bobrow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5038168_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717609974332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/brittany-bobrow"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39835","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":633,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"20.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":90.7,"schoolId":39835,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tully C Knoles School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tully C Knoles School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lincoln-unified-school-district/tully-c-knoles-school/39835"}
