Before the donors choose project was submitted, we were using calculators that one might expect to find at a dollar store. My students would use the calculators, and half of the time they would return them back to me because they did not work properly, they were falling apart, and even failed to turn on. \r\n With the edition of the new calculators I am confident that when given a problem to solve, students will find success with these new tools. These calculators feel very sturdy and seem easy to handle and use. My students are enjoying having a calculator that is a little more suited for their needs. I see my students get excited when I pull these out during a lesson. I am excited for the prospect of using these tools for the rest of this school year and many more to come.\r\n Aside from the calculators, we are excited to dig into the games that went along with this project. On Friday we had earned a reward of extra free time in my classroom, and were able to play shut the box - 6 player addition and chess. The 6 player edition of shut the box was exactly what I needed to keep a classroom full of 7th grade students engaged and having some fun.
