Because of your kindness, our first-grade students gained access to classroom-safe construction tools that were shared across all three first-grade classrooms.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest benefits was the increase in student independence. Before receiving these materials, students often needed adult help when working with cardboard and other building materials. With the Makedo Safe-Saws and ChompSaw, they were able to safely make changes to their own work, try out ideas, and take a more active role in the building process.\r\n\r\nThese resources also increased student engagement. Students were excited to use the tools and eager to create with them. The opportunity to build, explore, and experiment kept them focused and motivated while working on their projects.\r\n\r\nAs they worked, students developed important skills such as problem-solving, perseverance, and creative thinking. When something didn't work the way they expected, they made adjustments and tried again. Over time, many students became more confident in their ability to work through challenges and find solutions on their own.\r\n\r\nOne of the highlights was seeing how proud students were of what they created. Being able to safely cut, shape, and build their own ideas gave them a strong sense of ownership and accomplishment.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping provide meaningful hands-on learning experiences. Your support made a lasting impact on our classrooms and will continue to benefit future students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1772807134528,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-magnificent-makers/9920020/","projectTitle":"Tools for Magnificent Makers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Katrina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7200247_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y765&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1588491544058","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7200247"},{"teacherId":7200247,"projectId":9920249,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our first grade classroom!\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students now have access to hands-on phonics games and activities that make learning to read fun and engaging. My first graders are excited to practice reading in new ways, and I am already seeing their confidence grow as they build a strong foundation in literacy. \r\n\r\nThe alphabet magnet arc, although a replacement item, has been a wonderful addition to our daily learning. We use the journals daily during writing workshop for stories, phonics practice, and responding to read-alouds.\r\n\r\nThe dry- erase markers have made whole-group lessons more interactive, allowing every student to participate during phonics, sight word, and math practice. The new resources have helped so many learners bring out their creative side and embrace art in many different ways. Students are using the materials to explore painting, drawing, and mixed-media projects, and it's amazing to see their confidence grow as they experiment and try new techniques. One memorable moment was when a student proudly shared a self-portrait that included imaginative colors and patterns—they beamed with pride knowing their ideas were valued and could come to life.\r\n\r\nThe students' excitement when they first saw the new art supplies was contagious! You could feel the energy in the room as they gathered around the tables, eager to start creating. These materials have not only encouraged artistic expression but also inspired collaboration, discussion, and problem-solving as students share ideas and techniques with each other. The next step for our classroom is to continue building on these projects by exploring themed art lessons connected to other subjects, such as science and literature, allowing students to deepen their understanding while continuing to express themselves creatively. Your contribution has truly opened doors for our learners to grow, explore, and shine.","fullyFundedDate":1750816376593,"projectUrl":"project/color-our-classroom-bright/9296888/","projectTitle":"Color Our Classroom Bright","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mandy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9430492_orig.jpg?crop=1935,1935,x1088,y735&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747160264909","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9430492"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103522","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":795,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":33,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.2,"schoolId":103522,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ilead Lancaster Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ilead Lancaster Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lancaster-school-district/ilead-lancaster-charter-school/103522"}
