As a first-year teacher in a language immersion program, creating a structured and safe environment is my top priority. These resources have truly transformed our daily routine, especially for my students who navigate the world with autism and ADHD-like symptoms.\r\n\r\nThe moment the sensory pads were unveiled, the reaction from my students was pure joy. For two of my little learners who often struggle with high energy and elation, these pads became a \"safe harbor.\" One student, who used to find it nearly impossible to sit for more than a minute, was so fascinated by the texture and stimulation of the pads that he chose to stay in his seat during our entire circle time. This is a huge milestone—not just for his learning, but for his safety, as it prevents him from wandering out of the classroom environment. The organization bins have also allowed us to create a \"sensory corner\" where everything has a designated place, reducing visual clutter and helping my students feel calm and focused.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are using these materials as a foundation for our upcoming \"Senses and Discovery\" unit. The students are learning to identify different textures while practicing their Chinese vocabulary. These pads serve as a vital tool for their self-regulation, allowing them to participate in group lessons they previously found overwhelming. Your contribution did more than just provide supplies; it provided a sense of security and belonging for students who need it most. Thank you for being a part of our classroom family and for investing in these bright, young lives.\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt thanks,\r\n\r\nMs. Lin","fullyFundedDate":1764794351160,"projectUrl":"project/save-tk-mandarin-mslin-and-her-kids/9915483/","projectTitle":"Save TK Mandarin Ms.Lin and her kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. LIN","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10358476"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36801","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":298,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":28,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 1","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.3,"schoolId":36801,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Winter Gardens Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Winter Gardens Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lakeside-union-elementary-school-district/winter-gardens-elementary-school/36801"}
