The students were incredibly excited when the supplies arrived.\r\nYour donation included a butterfly home with caterpillars and seeds for butterfly bushes and flowers. We also received books focused on butterflies and their life cycle. One of the favorite items were butterfly manipulatives, such as a butterfly puppet and life cycle items.\r\n The impact on our class of 6 and 7 year olds has been tremendous. When the caterpillars arrived, the students were immediately captivated. Every morning, the first thing they looked at were the caterpillars, and they enthusiastically watched the different stages of the butterfly's life. It meant so much to them to watch the caterpillars go through their life cycle.\r\n The students had so much fun planting the seeds we received, which we did in the garden during the second week of the unit. They also love reading books with their buddy. Not only has it positively affected my class, but the entire third grade! I allow the grade level to use our hula hoops and balls during recess and the students are more than pleasantly occupied! The look of joy on their faces when they received the chalk to draw outside was such a wonderful thing to experience. My students are also being more successful with the supplies that were purchased like the expo markers and erasers and lap desks during class time, especially during our math lessons. The next steps I would like to take are to continue to teach yard games to my students and let them get creative with the newly found playground supplies. Thank you so much for your support!
