My students are literally stepping on this huge graph and making equations and points come alive!\r\n\r\nEven my struggling students are making progress and seeing the visuals is making graphs more concrete. Their increased sense of belonging to a special place on campus shows as they continue to show up daily. Paper and markers may not seem much, but when I get my students coloring and collaborating, I can see how much more visible and meaningful the abstract math becomes. Seeing my students with learning disabilities be able to talk about the slope because they color coded the growth of the patterns and the growth of the graph made me want to tear up. My students are getting it!!!\r\n\r\nAt first, my students were hesitant and confused as to why we are doing \"art in math class\" but once we talked about how we are going to show our math thinking by coloring, my middle schoolers were excited. Any reason to color and do math is win in our class. \r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I have enough materials to do something similar in our Geometry unit. Students will be able to color code their transformations and talk about it much more efficiently.\r\n\r\nMaking math colorful, pop out, and stand out is allowing my students to go from abstract to concrete. Variables, linear equations and even some transformations are difficult to imagine. But thanks to your supplies, my students grew and the evidence can be seen on their test score.","fullyFundedDate":1736803529382,"projectUrl":"project/making-linear-equations-pop/8943194/","projectTitle":"Making Linear Equations Pop","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McJimsey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9836586"},{"teacherId":5095997,"projectId":8923801,"letterContent":"Thank you for giving my students a chance to use and learn with the Speed Stacking Cups.
