Having access to proper tools, raised garden beds, and adaptive materials has created hands-on learning opportunities that go far beyond the classroom. Gardening allows my students to practice fine and gross motor skills, follow multi-step directions, and develop responsibility as they care for living plants. The sensory experience of feeling soil, smelling herbs, and watching plants grow has been especially meaningful, providing both calming moments and exciting discoveries. These resources have turned our outdoor space into a living classroom where every student can participate and feel successful.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been more than just academic, it has been personal and empowering. For many of them, this is their first experience nurturing something from seed to plant, and it builds confidence, patience, and teamwork. The donated equipment has made gardening accessible for all learners, including those who require modifications or extra support. Your generosity has not only enriched our curriculum but also helped create joyful, real-world learning experiences that my students will remember for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1746323062203,"projectUrl":"project/the-garden-grows-on-hands-on-learning-f/9222209/","projectTitle":"The Garden Grows On: Hands-On Learning for All Abilities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. CAMOZZI","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4369601_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508277441316","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-camozzi"},{"teacherId":4369601,"projectId":8982507,"letterContent":"With the new tools—like trowels, gloves, watering cans, and raised garden beds—students were able to take part in every step: preparing the soil, planting seeds, and learning how to care for growing plants. The day the materials arrived was filled with excitement and curiosity. Students gathered around as we unpacked the watering cans, wagon. They were very excited about the wagon because that means they don't have to carry the tools since the garden is about half a mile and we walk to it. The students will learn how to harvest the herbs and vegetables and use them in simple classroom cooking projects. Thanks to your support, we're cultivating much more than a garden—we're nurturing independence, pride, and possibility.","fullyFundedDate":1743347945824,"projectUrl":"project/growing-futures-equipping-students-with/8982507/","projectTitle":"Growing Futures: Equipping Students With Job Kills Through Gardening","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. CAMOZZI","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4369601_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508277441316","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-camozzi"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36688","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1506,"numTeachers":57,"percentFrplEligible":80,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":67,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"26.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.9,"schoolId":36688,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mount Miguel High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mount Miguel High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/grossmont-union-high-school-district/mt-miguel-high-school/36688"}
