The student leaders at our school take pride in getting to school early on assembly days and laying out the blankets. They use teamwork to lay them out and fold them up to put them away at the end of the assemblies. We have received great feedback from the students, parents, and staff members about how much they love having the blankets on the ground, especially on those cold/wet mornings!\r\n\r\nWe have used them for their intended use, our monthly school wide assemblies recognizing academic success as well as the focus on SOAR (Safety, Overall Kindness, Acting Responsibly, and Respectful), but we've also been able to set them out for a recent assembly with the California Dairy Council. We had a moo-ving experience with a dairy cow on our campus while we learned about nutrition! Overall, these blankets have provided a \"special place to sit\" (as said by a 2nd grader) outside, and we are so grateful for your generous donation! Your donations have already provided the funds for specific math differentiation for my first grade students! \r\n\r\nWith your donation, I have purchased math differentiation activities that are creatively themed for the winter months. Students created Place Value Snowmen by decorating each snowman part with place value blocks for hundreds, tens, and ones. This activity supported all learners as they were able to choose how many of each block to use on their snowman craft. Then, the students had to analyze their work by identifying the number, place values, word form, and expanded form. Students also solved differentiated word problems that challenged them with varied word types and open ended numbers so that they could choose their own math equations.
