Our students were extremely excited to use the new materials and have been incredibly responsible with the boards, chess pieces, and timers. Almost every day they asked to play, and the upper graders even made sure I kept their sets separate from the lower graders so no pieces would get lost!\r\n\r\nOur chess mentor from the Elks Club thought the timers were a wonderful addition.\r\nHaving him come on Tuesdays during lunch recess has been a special treat that the students look forward to all week. He has watched them grow, persuades them to play at home, and encourages them to enter tournaments. He even jokes that they are getting so good they might beat him soon!
