Over the last few years I, along with my colleagues, have noticed that our second graders need more support with problem solving and collaboration skills. Many kids at this age tend to give up when something is too hard. I am trying to help them grow a growth mindset and persevere when something is challenging. \r\n This grant has provided my students with many collaborative games that allow them to experience loss, an important tool in life. These games also help them build their ability to work with other students, negotiate rules, and practice solving problems in a fun way. Many of the brain games will help students push on when they come across something that is hard and look to their classmates for help and support. In the short time we have been in school, I have already watched a student lean into another student and say, \"I have played this before, let me help you.\" These interactions will continue throughout the year allowing students to share their knowledge, as well as allowing students to feel comfortable asking for help. We are so excited to add these games to our room.","fullyFundedDate":1778377796116,"projectUrl":"project/collaborative-games-build-problem-solvin/10234664/","projectTitle":"Collaborative Games Build Problem Solving Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Roumiguiere","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10487390_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777505651812","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10487390"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91682","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":643,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":27,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"29.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.2,"schoolId":91682,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Acacia Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Acacia Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fullerton-school-district/acacia-elementary-school/91682"}
