And finally, they studied the parts of the brain and their functions. \r\nThe final project for the class was to label all the parts of the brain on a sheep's brain. For this, we needed your help. These calculators replaced the old ones that were not working or had screens that were difficult to read. They were so excited when I told them they were going to use Legos to create models of their graphs! I think this has been the most excited I have seen them doing graphing. \r\nThey created bar graphs from data that was collected during the Spill the Beans Lab, which simulated what happens with renewable and non-renewable resources when they are used by humans. The students then used the colored pencils to draw the same graph for their lab reports. \r\nThese simple tools made such a huge difference with my students. One of my students asked if they could make a phone stand for our woodworking project. I created a project using square dowels that required them to use a tape measure, coping saw, hand drill, hammer, and sanding block. I had my practice using all of these tools before beginning the actual project.\r\nWow! My students did an amazing job learning and helping each other use the woodworking tools. They were so excited to try new things and get a final product they could take home and use. \r\nYour generous donation helped to inspire a few future woodworkers, and give them confidence that they can use tools to build and create for themselves.
