These books have completely transformed our small-group intervention time. Before these arrived, my students often struggled to bridge the gap between learning a sound and reading it in a story. Now, they have the exact tools they need to practice the specific phonics patterns we are working on, such as blending sounds and recognizing high-frequency words in context. \r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading now looks like a hive of focused activity. During our small group sessions, you'll see students tucked into cozy corners or sitting with me at the kidney table, pointing to each word as they decode it. There is a new sense of calm and confidence because these texts are \"leveled\" perfectly for their skills; they aren't guessing at words anymore but truly reading them. It has turned a task that used to be frustrating into a series of \"aha!\" moments. \r\n\r\nOne group of students has been especially energized by these books. These are my striving readers who previously felt overwhelmed by standard library books. One student in particular used to shy away from reading aloud, but yesterday, he beamed with pride after finishing an entire reader on his own. He even asked to take it home to read to his family! Your generosity has given my students the gift of competence, and there is nothing more powerful than a child realizing they have the keys to unlock a story","fullyFundedDate":1733956167088,"projectUrl":"project/phonics-books-for-our-independent-reader/8960214/","projectTitle":"Phonics Books for Our Independent Readers.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. De Alba","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8275918_orig.jpg?crop=629,629,x0,y127&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727385211273","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8275918"},{"teacherId":8275918,"projectId":8790458,"letterContent":"It has been a joy to watch my students' faces light up when the new issues of SuperStem arrive. This project has fundamentally changed the energy in our classroom; instead of just memorizing facts, my students are now asking 'why' and 'how' about the world around them. Thanks to your support, I've been able to transition from lecture-based lessons to a truly inquiry-based environment. These materials have given me the perfect tool to engage my EL students, who thrive when they can connect new English vocabulary to the vivid photographs and the physical steps of a science experiment.
