Because of your kindness, our students now have the materials they need to create sketch notes that help capture and organize their learning in meaningful ways. Your donation has already made a noticeable difference in our classroom, and I am incredibly grateful for your investment in our students' success.\r\n\r\nThe students have truly appreciated having access to these materials. From the moment they began using them, there was an immediate sense of excitement and engagement. Sketch noting has given them a creative and effective way to process information while learning new concepts. Instead of simply writing down traditional notes, students are able to combine words, symbols, drawings, arrows, color, and visual connections to represent their thinking. This process allows them to interact more deeply with the content and make stronger personal connections to what they are learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding things to observe has been how much this strategy supports student understanding and retention. Many students have shared that creating sketch notes helps them remember important ideas because they are not just copying information, they are actively thinking about how to represent it visually. This extra level of processing has helped them retain concepts in a way that feels meaningful and beneficial to them. Students are better able to revisit their notes later and quickly recall the lesson because the visual elements serve as powerful memory cues.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, these materials have also helped build confidence and ownership in learning. Students enjoy being able to express their understanding in unique ways, and the sketch notes give them a sense of pride in their work. It has been wonderful to see students who may not always feel confident with traditional note-taking thrive with this approach. They are engaged, motivated, and excited to share their learning with their classmates.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has supported not only the purchase of materials, but also the growth of critical thinking, creativity, and student voice in our classroom. These resources will continue to benefit many students as they develop strategies that will support them across subject areas and in future learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and for helping make learning both meaningful and memorable. Your support is deeply appreciated, and the impact of your generosity will continue to be felt every day in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1763474810723,"projectUrl":"project/sketch-notes-for-long-lasting-learning/9819586/","projectTitle":"Sketch Notes for Long Lasting Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Villarreal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4380957_orig.jpg?crop=2040,2040,x0,y102&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731962672145","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4380957"},{"teacherId":8294106,"projectId":9615882,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of headphones and the tornado kit to our second grade classroom. The headphones have already made a meaningful impact on our daily learning. Students are able to focus better during independent work, listening activities, and small-group instruction, which has helped them build confidence and stay engaged. Having this resource available has truly supported a calm and productive learning environment for all of my students.\r\n\r\nThe tornado kit has been especially exciting and memorable for the class. Students were thrilled to use the tornado maker and see how a tornado forms right before their eyes. This hands-on experience sparked curiosity, encouraged thoughtful questions, and helped students better understand weather concepts we have been studying in science. We've been using them in creative and hands-on ways that have made learning more engaging and meaningful. For example, during our recent science unit, students used the new materials to build and test their own models—watching their ideas come to life right before their eyes.\r\n\r\nThe excitement when they first saw the new supplies was unforgettable! Many of them couldn't believe that people they'd never met cared enough to help their class. Their faces lit up with curiosity and joy as they started exploring everything.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current projects, students are taking what they've learned to the next level working collaboratively, thinking critically, and building confidence in their abilities.
