I feel so lucky to teach in a community of caring, kind, and generous folks like yourself. \r\n\r\nWhen I first saw the classroom I'd be teaching in, I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to obtain everything I needed to teach effectively. It was unorganized and chaotic as a result of the uncertainty of having substitute after substitute. As I came to find out, it was the same situation their 6th grade year. I can't imagine not having a permanent teacher for most of two years! I knew I needed to hit the ground running with these kiddos to pack in as much learning and fun as I could. \r\n\r\nAs the year wraps up, I am overcome with pride due to how much these students have grown. They've worked so hard since I jumped in halfway through the year. From having no routine, an unorganized room full of trash and dust, and no materials to a transformed room with prize box Fridays, daily warm-ups with new materials, and even mailboxes to quickly pass back graded work. You, Mr. Hood, gave us the ability to have structure, organization, and routine. Our students were able to come into a clean room in which they knew where everything was, where to find necessary materials, and what to expect on a daily basis (and to look forward to fun prizes on Friday!). Thanks to you, I was able to teach without worrying if I had the materials to do all of this. With a functional classroom, the rest came easy. Students' confidence grew, test scores sky rocketed, and even new friendships blossomed! \r\n\r\nThank you for being part of their journey. You helped to turn their year around. Thank you for contributing to your community in such a big way. Your impact will last for years to come (because I still have lots left for next year!). May God bless you!
