My students were so excited when they first saw the giant flowers and immediately wanted to touch, draw, and write on them. They were especially excited to discover that these were not just flowers to look at, they were a new place to create, explore, and share their ideas.\r\n\r\nWe are using the chalkboard flowers during outdoor learning and play to encourage creativity, early writing, drawing, and communication. My students love using chalk to draw pictures, practice their names and letters, create patterns, and represent their thinking. The flowers have also become a wonderful way for children to collaborate as they talk about what they are creating and add to one another's work. Because the flowers are outdoors, students can learn through movement and hands-on exploration while enjoying the fresh air.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue incorporating the flowers into our learning experiences throughout the year. We will use them for seasonal drawings, letter and name practice, counting and math games, and opportunities for students to illustrate and share their ideas.
