We appreciate you! The World Atlas's have brought an array of possibility to our classroom, and we've only touched the surface. I admired one of the donors stating that it is \"a large world and we only occupy a small portion of it.\" That is indeed the purpose of an atlas. \r\nThe first activity was a scavenger hunt where students simply explored the atlas by going to a specific page to find an answer to a question. It's a tactile \"game\" that sparks the curiosity of kids. Pictures and graphs are engaging and provide all students access to a degree of learning, no matter what their reading level. These Atlases are creatively organized in a way that also reaches sophisticated learners. For example, the atlas has pages with a focus on \"World Religions\" or \"World Languages,\" and these topics are not always touched upon with our district curriculum. Another activity kids engage with the atlas is with frequent morning \"warm-up\" work where kids get five simple questions, one being a geography question. The geography answers usually create rich class conversations.\r\nThe use of the World Atlas will spark students to read, learn, and hopefully travel to other places so we can become a more understanding, tolerant, and inclusive society. Around the world, we may have differences in clothing, foods, appearance, and activities, but overall humans are all similar and want the basics of love, happiness, and prosperity. \r\nThank you for the gift of traveling in a classroom.\r\n\r\n\r\nWith gratitude, \r\n\r\n\r\nJen Bodlovich\r\n5th Grade, Evergreen Elementary","fullyFundedDate":1741405338844,"projectUrl":"project/show-them-the-world/8928260/","projectTitle":"Show Them the World!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bodlovich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9829989"},{"teacherId":8253717,"projectId":9288412,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and my students reading skills.
