This grant would allow me to purchase supplies for a STEAM area in my classroom. STEAM fosters peer collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. The Design and Build Engineering Kit allows students to take a closer look at real-life designs and then explore and create their own cars, structures, and bridges. The Fairy Tale STEM kits provide students the opportunity to explore and solve the problem in the story. These materials will increase student engagement and participation in STEAM; Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math projects. Tasks could include building a bridge, maze, or tower. Students need to think about and plan for their design and experiment with different architectural structures to support their task. Students will show an understanding of science and mathematical concepts through the use of STEAM materials.
