The students feel valued as an individual when we recognize them in class for just being the special person they are, sing for them, and present them with some gifts and treats just for them. Each of my AP students put a Calm Strip on their computer to use to soothe themselves when they needed a way to refocus and find their strength. In addition, students each had a mouse and mouse pad to alleviate the worries that their track pad might not click properly and cause them trouble during the exam. All of these things helped make for a positive testing experience for my students.
