The moment I introduced the new materials to my Scholars, their faces lit up. They were immediately curious, asking who these tools were designed for, how they worked, and most importantly how they could use them to help others. \r\n\r\nWe jumped right into using the materials. where my students have already begun sketching and prototyping adaptive toys, sensory-friendly tools, and small \"everyday life\" solutions for people with different needs. They've tested textures, explored accessible design features, and even redesigned early ideas after giving and receiving peer feedback. Seeing them think beyond themselves and create with empathy has been incredibly moving and inspiring.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions have been nothing short of joyful, they weren't just excited to make something... they were excited to make something that would make someone else feel seen. That shift in mindset has been the true impact of this project.\r\n\r\nNext, my Scholars will continue refining their prototypes as we move into the final phase of our inclusive design challenge. They'll create digital portfolios, reflect on the design choices they made, and prepare to share their creations with our community.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping my students see that they have the power to design a world that includes everyone. I introduced the Chomp Saw to my Scholars the moment it arrived, and their excitement was such a joy to see! They were so ready to try it and asking questions, giving ideas, and already planning what they wanted to create!\r\n\r\nSince then, they've already used it to build 3D models for classroom projects, take on STEM challenges, and start early prototypes for their GATE innovation ideas. A few of them even grabbed it during their creative making time just because they wanted to keep exploring. It has been so fun watching them feel confident and capable with a tool that lets their ideas actually take shape.\r\n\r\nWe've even started a cabinet in our room that's filled with nothing but cardboard because the kids keep asking for more materials to create with!\r\n\r\nI'm so grateful for your generosity and for believing in my Scholars. The Chomp safe cutting saws have become an essential part of how my Scholars design and prototype their ideas. These tools have allowed students to safely cut, shape, and build using cardboard and other materials—opening up new possibilities in our STEAM and project-based learning challenges.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was real the moment students realized they'd be using tools made just for them. They instantly felt like engineers and makers. From designing models of accessible playgrounds to creating structures for our biome projects, the Chomp saws gave students the freedom to bring their ideas off the page and into the real world. It's been incredible to watch their confidence grow as they realized they could safely and effectively build something with their own hands.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these tools will play a key role in our upcoming design thinking challenges, where students will create solutions for real-world problems using cardboard engineering. Because of your generosity, my students have access to high-quality tools that empower them to imagine, create, and innovate. From the moment our new Hummingbird Robotics Kits arrived, my Scholars' eyes lit up with wonder. They couldn't believe these tools were really for them—and they dove headfirst into learning how to code, wire, and bring their ideas to life. Having several more Hummingbird kits this year made a huge impact. It meant more students could build and create simultaneously, giving every learner the chance to explore their ideas hands-on and feel ownership over their project. Access unlocked confidence—and confidence sparked creativity.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful moments came at the end of the school year, when every student showcased a project they were proud of. From biome-inspired habitats that lit up and moved, to coding projects that told stories about friendship and resilience, these weren't just presentations—they were proof of what's possible when students have the tools to lead their own learning. Our GATE students used the Hummingbird kits to take on a real-world challenge: designing adaptable toys for children with disabilities. They explored concepts like Universal Design for Learning and accessibility, and used their robotics knowledge to create toys that moved with sound, light, or gentle touch—an incredible blend of empathy, engineering, and purpose.\r\n\r\nThis was more than a robotics unit. It was a launchpad for deeper learning, creativity, and connection. As we look ahead to next year, students are already brainstorming new ways to use the Hummingbird kits to solve problems in their community, share their voices, and design for impact. Thank you for helping create a classroom where every student—regardless of background or ability—feels like an innovator.
