That first day, when we read a story together on the carpet they couldn't stop running their fingers across it. \"Ms. Perez, it's so soft!\" \"It's so comfortable! It's my new favorite part of our room!\"\r\n\r\nNow, on any given day, you'll find students reading on the carpet or playing math games during centers. Every student uses it daily. It has become a crucial part of our phonics instruction, helping to create a comfortable learning space. Because of this, I've seen incredible growth students who began the year as non-readers are now approaching or reading on grade level.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to build on this success by using our carpet space for math small groups, partner work, and literacy activities. Our next steps include deepening comprehension skills and growing our writing skills.
