Finding the right books was challenging, and when these books arrived, my students could not wait to jump into reading. \r\n\r\nMy hope was that students would enjoy the reading of the book set together with their group, that they would quickly want to read the other books in the series. It was a success! Immediately students starting picking up the books in the series. I even had a parent take their kid to the bookstore to buy extra books in the series because their son was so excited about reading. \r\n\r\nMy literature circles were also fun because students learned to talk and discuss about books. They culminated the activity with creating a board game about the book. This was fun, and they enjoyed challenging each other to play.","fullyFundedDate":1744244532520,"projectUrl":"project/literature-circles-for-little-learners/9233336/","projectTitle":"Literature Circles for Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fort","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6153358_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1545023272802","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6153358"},{"teacherId":6153358,"projectId":9233209,"letterContent":"I was so excited to recieve these books. My second graders are still new to the idea of biographies and kept asking, \"Is this true?\" It was fun for me to see their excitement to learn about important people and how they grew up. \r\n\r\nAfter an initial introduction to the genre, we started our biography projects. Each student chose a book to study. They looked up the basic facts, and then explored the childhood of each figure. Then they looked for things that the person accomplished. They noted any obstacles that the person had to overcome. Students recorded all their information, typed up and essay, and drew a portrait. These projects were a big hit at Open House.","fullyFundedDate":1744254555614,"projectUrl":"project/modern-biographies/9233209/","projectTitle":"Modern Biographies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fort","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6153358_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1545023272802","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6153358"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25925","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":555,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":62,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"25.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.6,"schoolId":25925,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Country Springs Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Country Springs Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/chino-valley-unified-school-district/country-springs-elementary-school/25925"}
