The bean bags and weighted stuffies have transformed our calm corner into a place where students can regulate their emotions, reset, and return to learning with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was priceless! The students' eyes lit up as they explored the soft bean bags and cuddled the weighted animals. One of my students, who often struggles with transitions, immediately curled up with a weighted stuffie. Moments like that highlight just how powerful your gift is.\r\n\r\nWe now use the calm corner daily. Students know they can take a break, choose a weighted stuffie, or sink into the bean bag when they need to feel grounded. This has reduced meltdowns, encouraged self-regulation, and created a stronger classroom community. Everyday we have a morning meeting where they receive their whole group learning. Out of 13 students; four are verbal, four are partially verbal, and 5 use devices to speak. Also out of these 13 students only five will sit down for about three minutes. Therefore having a small treat like a fruit snack, or gummy bear motivates them to stay in their seats longer. \r\n All of our students were extremely excited to see Cheeze Its and Ritz Crackers. Something different from goldfish and popcorn. With these donation I was able to have a functioning morning meeting all year.
