The supplies you donated to help provide a calmer and quieter atmosphere especially during testing are greatly appreciated. \r\n\r\nMany times, students will focus on others during assessments and often will stress over completing their math when they see others moving through the work faster. The wonderful partitions have allowed the students to stay focused on their individual work without the distractions of others. The tennis balls used to cover the chair feet has greatly helped to reduce the noise from chairs moving on the concrete floors. Now students can hear me during giving instruction and hear each other during their group discussions. Pencils and calculators are necessary tools in our math class. The inspirational message on the pencils is a nice addition when a student needs a pencil. The 10 calculators are very helpful as the majority of students come to school without a calculator and in our math class they are used almost daily.","fullyFundedDate":1730163244067,"projectUrl":"project/calm-space-math-minds-at-work/8907051/","projectTitle":"Calm Space... Thanks to you, my students and I received tennis balls for our desks, a color printer, classroom supply pouches filled with scissors and glue, notebooks, washi tape, and even tissues for those inevitable runny noses. Each of these items may seem small on its own, but together they have transformed the way my classroom functions and how my students learn each day.\r\n\r\nThe tennis balls have already made a noticeable difference. With them, students can easily move their desks without the loud scraping sound that used to interrupt our lessons. More importantly, it allows us to transition into group work smoothly. I've seen students take ownership of their learning spaces by moving their desks to collaborate without hesitation, and the classroom energy has shifted into something more dynamic and flexible. What once was a chore—shuffling desks around—has now become a natural part of our learning routine.\r\n\r\nThe color printer has opened up exciting new possibilities for instruction. I've been able to create colorful posters that highlight key concepts, display inspirational quotes, and bring visuals into our room in a way that engages students immediately. Instructional materials, when printed in color, are far more eye-catching, and I've noticed students interacting with them more thoughtfully. It's a small detail that makes a big difference in capturing attention and holding focus.\r\n\r\nThe supply pouches filled with scissors and glue have been a lifesaver. Before, distributing supplies often ate up valuable class minutes, and it was easy for items to get lost or misplaced. Now, with everything organized in pouches, I can quickly hand out what students need for notebook work or projects. Students know exactly where to find the materials and how to return them, which has increased responsibility and cut down on wasted time. The tools themselves—especially the glue sticks and scissors—are used daily as students attach readings, charts, and practice exercises into their notebooks. These interactive notebooks are becoming rich, personalized records of learning.\r\n\r\nThe notebooks and washi tape go hand in hand. Every student now has a dedicated place to track notes, reflections, and class activities. The washi tape is more than just decoration; it helps students organize sections of their notebooks by unit or skill. Many of my students struggle with keeping track of information, and this simple addition has provided them with a system to stay organized while also giving them the chance to personalize their work. I've been impressed with how much pride students take in their notebooks when they feel some ownership over the look and structure.\r\n\r\nAnd of course, the tissues may not be glamorous, but they are essential. Having them available in the classroom means students don't have to interrupt their focus to search for what they need. It's a small comfort that helps keep our classroom environment clean and caring.\r\n\r\nEvery single item you funded has been put to immediate use, and the benefits are clear. Your generosity has not only provided tools but has created smoother routines, more engaging instruction, and a learning environment that feels supportive and well-equipped. My students and I are deeply grateful for your kindness. Thank you for investing in their education and for making our classroom a better place to learn and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1750289124080,"projectUrl":"project/start-strong-back-to-school-supplies-fo/9419094/","projectTitle":"Start Strong: Back-to-School Supplies for a Successful Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. April Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9824964"},{"teacherId":1684707,"projectId":9142111,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous gift that allowed me to set up a tropical terrarium with dart frogs in my high school biology classroom. The habitat has become a living centerpiece for our room—students are immediately drawn to it when they walk in, and it has transformed our space into a place of curiosity and calm. Your support provided not only the enclosure and plants, but also the lighting, and care supplies needed to maintain a healthy environment for the frogs.\r\n\r\nThe terrarium is directly tied to our curriculum on tropical forests and biomes. We use it to study ecosystem dynamics, adaptations, food webs, and nutrient cycles in real time. When we cover topics like microclimates, humidity, and biodiversity, students can observe authentic examples rather than just reading about them. The frogs help anchor NGSS-style phenomena-driven lessons: learners make observations, generate testable questions (e.g., \"How does light period affect activity?\"), collect data, and discuss ethical considerations of captive care and conservation.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most meaningful is how much joy the frogs bring to students each day. They take pleasure in checking on them during passing periods, logging behaviors, and ensuring the habitat is thriving. Though we don't know your name, we feel your impact daily. This sensory support has made it easier for students to return to tasks with a clearer mind, improving their ability to stay engaged in classroom activities.\r\n\r\nThe memory foam chair offers a comfortable seating option that promotes focus and a sense of security. Its supportive design encourages proper posture while also creating a soothing space for students who need a break from traditional seating. Students are more willing to participate and remain on task when they feel physically supported and relaxed.\r\n\r\nTogether, these seating options contribute to a more inclusive classroom environment. Thanks to your contribution, we've been able to provide our students with essential tools that have made a significant impact on their learning experience. I am excited to share how these resources have been used and the progress our students have made.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the sensory fidgets, our students have been using them in a variety of ways. During lessons, students who struggle with focus are now able to use the fidgets to help them redirect their energy, which has significantly improved their engagement and participation. One particular moment stands out: during a recent group reading session, a student who had previously struggled to stay focused was able to concentrate fully on the story because they had a fidget to occupy their hands. This allowed them to join in the discussion, share their thoughts, and engage with their peers in a way that we had not seen before.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, there was an immediate sense of excitement and curiosity. Many of them had never used sensory fidgets before, and they were eager to try them out. It was clear from their reactions that they were relieved to have a tool that could help them focus without feeling self-conscious. Their enthusiasm for the new resources has only grown as they've realized how much they help them stay on task and participate in class activities.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has made a real difference in creating an inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment for our students. The improvements in their focus and participation have been tangible, and we can already see the positive impact on their learning outcomes.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for being a part of this important work. I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support in funding the air purifier and classroom incentives for the students at Etiwanda High School. Your contribution has made a tangible difference in our classroom, and I am excited to share how these resources have impacted both the health and academic performance of our students.\r\n\r\nSince the air purifier was installed, we've already seen a noticeable improvement in the classroom environment. As you know, California's wildfire season can drastically reduce air quality, which previously led to many students feeling uncomfortable, struggling to concentrate, and even missing school due to respiratory issues. With the new air purifier, the air quality has improved significantly, allowing our students to breathe more easily and focus on their studies. I've noticed a boost in classroom energy, and students are now more engaged, participating actively in lessons without the discomfort they previously faced.\r\n\r\nThe small incentives you helped provide have also been a great motivator for our students. For instance, I recently implemented a system where students earned rewards for completing challenging assignments on time. The excitement and motivation were palpable. Students who typically struggled with staying on task were more energized and eager to earn the rewards, and I saw an increase in both productivity and enthusiasm. It's incredible to see how even small incentives can ignite a greater sense of motivation and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your incredible generosity. Students really appreciate you protecting their work, showing respect for their efforts. \r\n The whiteboard magnetic erasers are amazing! Best eraser I have used and have given to colleagues. Students see a clean white board without ink streaks or stopping a lecture to wipe down the board. The vibrant Expo markers create a creative vibe and monthly themes (and students leave colorful messages to say \"hi\" or promote spirit weeks as they leave). Students identify due dates that match their color handouts to stay organize, newer students have appreciated the color-coded, high-level note-taking labeling guide, and students follow their stock game and chapter scores easily with the various Expo colors (big cheers as they watch me update their improved class average scores).\r\n The color paper bins were an instant hit. Students no longer ask which bin has their work; each class period is assigned a color and along with the rolling files for spare handouts, students are more self-sufficient and organized.
