I was genuinely so excited and surprised that it was funded so quickly, I think we were expecting a much slower response. I am so happy to be wrong and am grateful to all our incredible donors who care about our students and care about books (and care about students reading more books).\r\n\r\n I made sure the books were put into our system and ready for circulation before one of our first BoB meetings to surprise our new and returning Battle of the Books members. The books became a priority for our library and I was never so happy to be busy while being so grateful that people were willing to help fund more books for our avid readers.\r\nOur students were so excited to have all the books so readily available and waiting for them to check out. So many of our kids checked out quite a few books, and were planning which ones they wanted next when they finished their current reads. \r\n\r\nI've already had a lot of our students read Orbiting Jupiter and connect with it so strongly that it even brought one to tears. Alan Gratz is a popular historical fiction author, and I just know a lot of our students will love Allies when we have upcoming book tastings. Titles such as What Happened to Rachel Riley?, Everything We Never Had, The Great Cool Ranch Dorito in the Sky, Shut Up, This Is Serious cover some difficult topics that I know our kids will want to read and connect with and I'm so grateful that we can add more thought-provoking titles into our collection here at Central Unified. We allow for loans to other sites, so these books aren't just going to be read at our site, but by any student and staff in the district. Thank you all so, so much from the bottom of our hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1760369821039,"projectUrl":"project/ready-set-read-battle-of-the-books/9588222/","projectTitle":"Ready, Set, Read! These inclusive books will be used by our Special Day Class (SDC) teacher and her students to guide them through a hands on art project, all while learning about artists and types of art. They did this while seeing themselves in the books they are reading.\r\n\r\nWe will also use these books for our two literacy outreach programs: Kinder Tech Buddies and Athletes as Readers and Leaders. The former connects high school English Language Learners with kindergarten students digitally twice a month. The high school students read books on line to the kinders while helping them learn to read. The later is also a literacy outreach program that connects high school athletes weekly, for in person reads with T-K through 3rd grade students. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous gift of these books, including two amazing books that you wrote!","fullyFundedDate":1733416127488,"projectUrl":"project/draw-me-in-inclusive-art-project-books/8981982/","projectTitle":"Draw Me In!
