The impact of a simple calculator in a classroom like ours is profound. These devices allow students to explore algebraic relationships, solve multi-step problems, and check their reasoning with confidence. Instead of feeling held back by a lack of resources, my students are now able to fully engage with lessons and build the skills required for higher-level mathematics. \r\nWhat excites my students most is the independence these calculators give them. They love being able to verify their work during group tasks, participate more equally in discussions, and approach challenging topics, like exponential functions or logarithms, without the fear of falling behind. I've seen students who once hesitated to attempt complex problems now lean in with determination and curiosity, knowing they finally have the tools to succeed.\r\nSeveral students have especially blossomed since the calculators arrived. One student who often felt embarrassed to borrow materials now proudly completes every assignment, no longer worried about lacking the right tools. Another, who previously avoided challenging questions, has become more confident in trying new strategies and sharing his thinking with classmates. In a school where most students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, your gift is more than a classroom resource, it is an act of equity and belief. Thank you for helping ensure every student has a fair chance to learn, grow, and thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1757648450956,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-for-confidence-empowering-b/9388009/","projectTitle":"Calculators for Confidence: Empowering Border Town Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Buenrostro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10047194_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y715&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748642870868","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10047194"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39625","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2718,"numTeachers":127,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":47.8,"schoolId":39625,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Calexico High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Calexico High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/calexico-unified-school-district/calexico-high-school/39625"}
