The minute I brought the boxes into my classroom, the room was filled with a buzz of excitement. When we opened them, the students gasped and asked if we could read each book right then and there. Since that would have taken all day, we began with one, \"They All Saw a Cat,\" a book that looks at a cat from different perspectives of animals and people in its life. We sat together, discussed each page with enthusiasm and explored what the book was focusing on. We shared as a group about our perspectives in life about situations and people and how we all come from a different place of thinking and background knowledge. \r\n\r\nThese books are an energy boost into our classroom's growing love of reading. My goal with each of these books is to open their minds to the possibility of thinking about reading while reading as well as thinking about how books connect to our learning, both academic and social/emotional. My class can't wait to read each and every book in this project.
