The Wild Robot has been especially great for deeper conversations, while the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books give students a fun way to practice comprehension while reading something they really enjoy.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom looks a little different depending on the day. We do whole-class read-alouds, independent reading, partner reading, and small-group discussions. I really try to give students time to actually enjoy books too, not just complete an assignment about them. I want reading to feel like something they look forward to.\r\n\r\nThe Diary of a Wimpy Kid books have definitely been a favorite, especially with some of my students who usually have a harder time finding books they want to read. It has been so nice seeing them excited to grab a book, talk about what is happening, and recommend different ones in the series to each other. Seeing students who do not always choose reading on their own become excited about a book has been one of my favorite parts. They were so excited when they saw all of the new materials, and it was so fun watching them look through everything and talk about what they wanted to use first. Seeing that kind of excitement over learning is always such a great feeling as a teacher.\r\n\r\nWe have already started using the LCD writing tablets, geoboards, Kanoodle games, and building blocks during math, centers, and other hands-on activities. I love being able to give my students different ways to learn, especially because so many of them do their best when they can build, create, move things around, and figure things out for themselves.\r\n\r\nI am truly so thankful for your generosity and for choosing to support our classroom. These materials will be used throughout the entire year and will give my students so many opportunities to be creative, work together, and enjoy learning. My students loved observing the tadpoles each day and watching the changes as they grew. It made our science lessons feel real and helped students practice observation, questioning, and critical thinking in a fun, hands-on way.\r\n\r\nThe tadpoles also helped build responsibility and teamwork in our classroom. Students were eager to help care for them and became very invested in their growth.
