Your generosity has helped create engaging and supportive opportunities for students to strengthen their fluency, comprehension, and confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nMany of my third graders are still developing foundational reading skills and benefit greatly from structured, hands-on practice. The Whisper Phones have become one of the students' favorite tools because they allow them to hear themselves while reading, helping them improve focus, expression, pacing, and accuracy. Students are much more engaged during fluency practice because they can immediately hear their own progress. The fluency and comprehension partner scripts have also transformed reading time into a highly interactive experience where students practice repeated reading, build smoothness and expression, and work collaboratively with classmates. These repeated readings help students become more automatic readers while also improving comprehension and confidence.\r\n\r\nThe nonfiction comprehension cards have been especially valuable during small group instruction and reading centers. Students are practicing important skills such as finding key details, answering text-based questions, building vocabulary, and thinking critically about informational text. These materials support students who benefit from additional practice, multisensory learning, and scaffolded instruction while still keeping activities engaging and motivating. Reading in our classroom now includes partner work, fluency practice, discussion, repeated reading, and comprehension activities that help students actively interact with text instead of simply reading passively.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this project has been watching students who previously lacked confidence begin volunteering to read aloud and participate more during lessons. Several students who once struggled to stay focused during reading activities are now excited to use the Whisper Phones and partner scripts because they feel successful and supported. During small group instruction, students use magnetic phonics tools, whiteboards, and word-mapping paddles to build words, segment sounds, and practice spelling patterns. They then immediately apply those skills while reading connected text in the decodable books. Students practice fluency through repeated readings, partner reading, and teacher-guided support. The materials have helped create a classroom environment where students feel safe taking risks, practicing challenging words, and celebrating growth together.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously avoided reading are now eager to participate during small group time because they are beginning to see themselves as capable readers. One of the most rewarding moments has been watching struggling readers successfully decode words independently and proudly say, \"I read that by myself!\" Students who once lacked confidence are now volunteering to read aloud, helping peers during word work activities, and showing greater stamina during independent reading practice.\r\n\r\nThese resources have also allowed me to provide more targeted intervention support for students who need additional practice while still keeping instruction engaging and hands-on. We have received our requested tools to \"Help Students Develop a Love of Reading and Writing\". We immediately put the white boards and erasers to good use during our Science of Reading based phonics lessons. Every student has their own personal way to show what they know in a clear, easy to use way. \r\n Our new listening center gives every student access to fascinating stories and informative texts that would otherwise be out of reach for them. Being able to hear the text read while tracking along in the book also supports good reading habits, fluency and sight word recognition. The player and the headphones keep everything organized and accessible to students. We are using our journals to learn and practice writing strategies. We are currently working on opinion writing. Students will be thinking about preferences and trying to pin down why they feel that way. They will then share these opinions with their peers underscoring the importance of being clear in their communication.
