With your help, we have been able to use the funds you provided in many ways to support our learning. \r\n\r\nWe have used it for centers to help us learn how to blend words, how to count up to 120 and add and subtract within 10. The funds have given us access to material that extends beyond the curriculum to make learning more fun and collaborative. \r\n\r\nFor example, the funds have been used to purchase material for heart words; something that is new for our classroom. Many people think sight words are undecodable, however there are many that are. With the funds, we have used it to learn more about heart words and build a \"sound wall\" where we can access the different rules and spelling patterns to learn how to read tricky words like \"said\" and \"they\". We have used the funds to purchase homework material to support our knowledge of heart words as well as purchase additional material to continue learning about heart words in class. \r\n\r\nReading is a huge foundation skill learned in first grade.
