The students have now learned to open and close their binders safely, and are using them daily for reading. Having passages accessible in their desks has been a great addition to our daily routine. \r\nThey really liked the new binders, name plates and canvases. We immediately placed them in and on desks. Every week we add a few more reading passages to practice. The students enjoy reading them as a class, in partners, and independently. We immediately took the parachute out to play with it. Luckily, the weather was great and we had so much fun. We invited out the other first grade class to use it also. The students were screaming and laughing. It was great!\r\nWatching the students try to use the sacks for races was hilarious. They can barely jump to begin with, so adding a sack for them to climb into was the best. They had so much fun and wanted to keep playing. They were getting exercise for sure. Next I plan on having them try to do the sack races with a partner. Having ink available allows both my students and me to print materials on demand. Students can print their typed work and then work with a peer to edit and revise their writing on paper. \r\n\r\nThe new ink has also allowed me to print in color materials to support our learning. The little journals have been perfect for us to practice our daily gratitude. \r\nStudents have started their wood cookies to make a class mobile. Each student is painting a symbol to represent themselves on their wood cookie and then all of them will be hung together. Our next project with be creating \"sun catchers\" with the plates, markers, and heat gun. My students are excited to try it, since it will be a brand new activity. These children are beginning their very first school experiences, and because of your support, they now have a classroom environment that helps them feel safe, cared for, and excited to learn every day.\r\n\r\nMy students were beyond excited when the materials arrived. They immediately wanted to explore the sensory tools, weighted stuffie, snacks, and new classroom supplies. One of my favorite moments was watching students use the pipe cleaners to make bees. We learned all about insects, the pipe cleaners were used to create their very own bee that could pollinate the flowers around the classroom. The craft supplies, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and adaptive scissors have been used during art projects and fine motor activities that help students strengthen important early learning skills. The tissues, wipes, and cleaning supplies help me maintain a clean, healthy, and welcoming classroom environment for all 25 students. \r\n\r\nThe weighted sensory stuffie has become a comforting classroom favorite for students who need extra support calming down or feeling secure during the school day. It has been amazing to see students begin learning how to self-regulate and confidently communicate their needs.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also made a huge difference in our classroom. Having Goldfish, applesauce, gummies, and Cheez-Its available helps ensure students stay energized and ready to learn, especially during long school days. \r\n\r\nAs we continue through the year, these materials continue supporting our classroom community academically, socially, and emotionally. My students are learning how to explore, problem solve, create friendships, and grow into confident learners. Your generosity has helped me create a classroom where every child feels valued, supported, and excited to come to school each day.
