One special moment that stands out was during our reading block, when students spread out around the room with their cushions and became completely engaged in their books. Students who typically struggle to sit still were able to focus longer and participate more confidently in follow-up discussions.\r\n As we move forward, students are using the seat cushions during our current literacy lessons as we work on reading comprehension and written responses.\r\n The next steps for my students include using the cozy reading seat cushions during longer independent reading periods, small-group discussions, and partner work. We are building reading stamina and deeper comprehension, and the cushions help students stay comfortable, focused, and engaged for extended periods of time. Students will also use the cushions during writing workshops as they plan, draft, and revise their work, allowing them to choose a learning spot where they can do their best thinking. These flexible seating options continue to support student choice, responsibility, and meaningful learning every day.","fullyFundedDate":1763474718078,"projectUrl":"project/comfy-cozy-readers/9637558/","projectTitle":"Comfy Cozy Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Grubbs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2515397_orig.jpg?crop=313,313,x864,y435&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755790742097","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-grubbs"},{"teacherId":2515397,"projectId":9637520,"letterContent":"We are using the vacuum and cleaning supplies as part of our daily classroom routines and to help teach responsibility and teamwork. One special moment was when a small group of students noticed scraps of paper and dirt on the floor after a project and asked if they could clean it up. They took turns vacuuming and wiping tables so the room would be ready for the next lesson. It has turned classroom cleanup into a shared job instead of something rushed or ignored.\r\n The students were beyond excited! They couldn't believe the cleaning tools were \"really for us.\" Several students immediately volunteered to help and proudly said things like, \"Our room is going to look so nice!\" The vacuum quickly became a classroom favorite, and students were eager to learn how to use it safely and responsibly.\r\n Our next steps include tying these routines into our current lessons on responsibility, community, and working together. Students are continuing hands-on projects that involve cutting, gluing, and creating, and now they are able to take ownership of cleaning up afterward. We are also practicing rotating classroom jobs so every student gets a chance to lead, help, and care for our learning space.
