We received our seeds on January 5th and are preparing to begin our planting investigations, while also launching an engaging butterfly life cycle project. These resources are being used during science lessons and exploration time, giving students meaningful opportunities to observe, ask questions, and build early scientific thinking skills.\r\n\r\nWhen my students were introduced to the butterfly project, their excitement was immediate and genuine. They have been especially fascinated by watching the caterpillars change each day, often gathering around to carefully observe even the smallest differences. Students eagerly share their observations, make predictions about what will happen next, and use new science vocabulary as they discuss the life cycle. For many students, this daily observation has become the highlight of their day and has helped them develop patience, curiosity, and attention to detail.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will begin planting seeds and tracking growth alongside the butterfly project. They will compare life cycles, record observations through drawings and simple writing, and connect science learning to literacy and math. Your support has given students a firsthand look at how living things grow and change, helping them see themselves as scientists in the classroom. Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to learn through real world experiences that inspire wonder and discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1767219994714,"projectUrl":"project/from-seed-to-scientist-growing-stem-min/9775612/","projectTitle":"From Seed to Scientist: Growing STEM Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10168386_orig.jpg?crop=400,400,x528,y159&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755924329021","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10168386"},{"teacherId":10168386,"projectId":9636360,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project, Illuminating Learning Through Play! These materials will be incorporated into daily centers and small group instruction, giving students meaningful opportunities to build, create, and problem solve together. The light table will provide a calm, engaging space where students can explore letters, numbers, shapes, and patterns while talking through their thinking and learning from one another.\r\n\r\nI can already imagine the excitement when my students first see the light table and materials. Their curiosity and enthusiasm will shine as they gather around to explore light, color, and design. The open ended nature of these tools will encourage creativity and collaboration, while also supporting students who learn best through visual and hands on experiences. Students will practice sharing, taking turns, and explaining their ideas, building both academic skills and social confidence.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these resources will support learning across subjects. In literacy, students will use manipulatives to recognize letters, build words, and retell stories. In math, they will count, sort, pattern, and explore shapes in meaningful ways. The light table will also support early science exploration as students observe and experiment with light and transparency. We have been using the Scholastic Let's Find Out magazine to supplement our Language Arts, Social Studies and Science lessons. The students absolutely love them! They get to learn about a fun topic, play games and have little dance breaks during the lesson. There are also videos that they can watch to help reinforce what they are learning. We read the magazines whole group in class, then they get to take the magazine home to read with their families. The kids are so excited to take the magazine home because many of them don't access to books at home. It has made a huge impact on their learning.\r\n We have also been using the Science Spin magazine in class. This magazine goes in depth about a subject that the kids normally wouldn't have the opportunity to learn about. The last magazine we read described how maple syrup was invented and how it is made. The students were shocked that maple syrup comes from a tree! It led to some great class discussions and a fun activity where we all got to sample real maple syrup that a student brought in. \r\n Thank you again for donating these two magazines to my class. It is donors like you who help make school fun and interesting for the students.","fullyFundedDate":1757504392804,"projectUrl":"project/three-cheers-for-science-and-social-stud/9432864/","projectTitle":"Three Cheers for Science and Social Studies!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Simpson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1423193_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472718105152","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1423193"},{"teacherId":10168386,"projectId":9807271,"letterContent":"Our classroom is buzzing with excitement thanks to your generous support of Books, Crafts, and Curiosity! These new texts have opened the door to foundational early literacy skills for our youngest learners. With these books, we are practicing how to handle books with care, identify characters and settings, make predictions using picture clues, and retell key events in order. These stories also support vocabulary development and help build a love of reading through partner sharing, dramatic play, and joyful discussions. For many of my transitional kindergarteners, these books are their very first introduction to storytime routines, and your donation has helped us begin their school journey with curiosity and confidence.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading time is a blend of movement, imagination, and hands-on learning. Students gather on the carpet for read-alouds, act out story moments, and use crafts as a creative way to deepen comprehension. After reading, they explore the books again during center time: sequencing events, drawing characters, and making connections through art. These new texts have quickly become the heart of our daily routine, and I see my students growing more excited each day, pointing to words, asking questions, and sharing their thinking proudly with their peers. Moments like these show just how meaningful your gift is to our classroom community. Thank you for believing in our students and helping us nurture a love of reading, creativity, and joyful learning.
