My students need activities that will grab their attention and that will focus on letter recognition, phonics, and writing. My students will use these materials to read, write, and retell stories as well as gain listening comprehension.
Kids are more apt to do a lesson if it is fun and grabs their attention. The sight word game and the syllable game are fashioned in such a way that it doesn't seem like work. The kids just think they are playing a game, yet the information stays with them. The kids will be able to use the puppets to retell the stories they have read, then use the STEAM activities to develop their critical thinking skills. The students will use the Read Alongs to develop a love of reading as well as listening comprehension. The Create a Scene Storytelling Frames will be useful in teaching the students about elements of a story, such as character and setting, as well as improve their oral language skills. They can also use these frames as a way to generate ideas for story writing. The writing prompt box set will give the students ideas about what to write and introduce them to different genres of writing.
It would be wonderful to have all of these items to use in literacy centers to help the students become successful readers and writers.
