The students were beyond excited when they first saw the magnetic boards, and interactive games. One student exclaimed, \"This looks like a playground for words!\" From the very first day, the materials have made our phonics lessons more engaging and allowed students to build words, practice decoding, and strengthen their reading skills through active, tactile learning.\r\n\r\nIn small groups, we've been using the new materials to create word families, sort vowel sounds, and blend phonemes. One memorable moment was during a recent lesson on short vowels—students competed in a \"word building challenge\" using the tiles, cheering each other on as they formed words like \"cat,\" \"pen,\" and \"hop.\" Their confidence as readers is growing because they can physically manipulate the letters and really see how words come together. The hands-on aspect has been especially meaningful for my visual and kinesthetic learners, who now have a stronger connection to the sounds and patterns we are studying.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are diving into more complex word structures, like blends and digraphs, using these materials. Students are eager to tackle longer words and even work on early spelling strategies during writing time.
