Your support has had a meaningful and immediate impact on our speech therapy sessions and on the students we serve. The story sequencing cards and story time dice have been especially helpful in targeting narrative language, sequencing, expressive language, and perspective-taking skills. These materials allow students to practice organizing their thoughts and expanding their ideas in a fun, engaging way that builds confidence and communication skills.\r\n\r\nThe Sharpie highlighters and Post-it notes are used daily to create visual supports, highlight key information, track goals, and break down complex language tasks. The laminating pouches, mesh zipper bags, storage baskets, and glass jar have helped us organize materials and maintain a structured, welcoming therapy space. Having well-organized, durable resources allows sessions to run smoothly and ensures materials can be reused for years to come.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the Frito-Lay snack packs have been a wonderful support and motivator for our students. Snacks help build rapport, encourage participation, and create a comfortable environment where students feel safe taking communication risks. We are truly grateful for your kindness and generosity, which directly enhances our ability to support students' communication skills, self-confidence, and success both in and beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1764644932627,"projectUrl":"project/speech-and-language-squad/9937771/","projectTitle":"Speech and Language Squad","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gutierrez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10325793"},{"teacherId":10051553,"projectId":9400956,"letterContent":"We use the yoga mats during structured movement and social-emotional learning sessions throughout the week. Students participate in guided stretching, breathing, and yoga poses that are adapted to meet different ability levels. One meaningful moment has been watching students who typically avoid physical activity eagerly come to the mats, try new movements, and support one another. We always end our sessions with a positive affirmation, \"I am strong. I am brave. I can do anything\" which has become a powerful routine for building confidence and self-awareness.\r\n Students were excited and curious when they first saw the yoga mats. Many immediately wanted to try them out and asked when we could start using them. Having their own designated mats made students feel valued and motivated, and it helped create a calm, welcoming environment for movement and mindfulness activities.\r\n Next, students will continue building strength, flexibility, and body awareness as part of our ongoing wellness and social-emotional learning lessons. We plan to expand our yoga routines to include more student-led movements, breathing strategies for self-regulation, and connections to goal-setting and confidence-building. These skills will support students not only in the classroom, but also in daily life and future community activities.","fullyFundedDate":1755714109276,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-emotional-well-being-and-soci/9400956/","projectTitle":"Supporting Emotional Well-Being and Social Growth Through Movement","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bean","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10051553"},{"teacherId":10325793,"projectId":9850641,"letterContent":"Our new sensory tools and learning materials have already become an essential part of our speech-language sessions, helping students regulate and stay engaged during activities. The vibrating bumble bee, magic wands, and visual sensory items have been especially helpful during our \"Describe & Discover\" project, where students choose an item and practice vocabulary, categories, and sentence expansion by describing its features and how it feels or moves. When the students first saw the materials, they were thrilled—many immediately reached for the vibrating bumble bee and the colorful magic wands, and several were mesmerized by the visual sensory items. Their excitement translated into increased participation and confidence, even from students who are typically more hesitant to speak. Moving forward, we'll be incorporating these materials into structured communication tasks focusing on turn-taking, problem-solving language, and conversational skills, as well as beginning a multi-week project where students build their own \"sensory strategy toolkit\" to identify which tools help them focus and communicate best. These donated resources have truly transformed our therapy space and created meaningful opportunities for growth.","fullyFundedDate":1763666664675,"projectUrl":"project/speech-and-language-superstars/9850641/","projectTitle":"Speech and Language Superstars","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gutierrez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10325793"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91617","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1565,"numTeachers":81,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":10,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":81,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.7,"schoolId":91617,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Loara High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Loara High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/anaheim-union-high-school-district/loara-high-school/91617"}
