They were eager to learn how to use the cardboard saws, and ready to take the steps to create. Students chose one cathedral to research. They looked into what kind of architecture they will find in their chosen cathedral. They created the frontal view using cardboard, sharies, and plastic. They used the saws to cut the outline for the front shape, and some of the handheld tools to cut out windows. They outlined their details with the sharpie before drawing and coloring their \"stained glass\" windows on plastic bags. They cut the shapes out of the bags and taped them to the window holes. Our next step will be to add stands to the back of the cathedrals, and display them in the library. Students will have an opportunity to discuss the process of creating these cathedrals during our end-of-year art show. Thank you for giving our students this opportunity of exploration.","fullyFundedDate":1762535175337,"projectUrl":"project/cardboard-cathedral-sculptures/9830614/","projectTitle":"Cardboard Cathedral Sculptures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Grizzle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5799947_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1535646491501","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5799947"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_50232","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":253,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":50232,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Side Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Side Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/west-side-public-schools/west-side-elementary-school/50232"}
