Our first featured book, Señorita Mariposa, invited families to stroll together while reading a beautiful bilingual story that celebrates the monarch butterfly's journey between the United States and Mexico. As families walked and read, they not only enjoyed quality time together outdoors but also strengthened their connections to language, culture, and each other.\r\n\r\nThe Story Walk has created a bridge between home and school, encouraging family engagement and bilingual literacy in a fun, active way. Many of our students are English Language Learners, and seeing stories displayed in both English and Spanish helps them take pride in their language while supporting their reading development. It has also been a joy to see parents reading aloud in both languages and sharing their own cultural stories along the way.\r\n\r\nOur next Story Walk will feature a book celebrating El Día de los Muertos, continuing to highlight the richness of bilingual literature and cultural traditions that reflect our school community. This project has truly brought reading beyond the library walls—it's now a shared experience that brings joy, movement, and togetherness to everyone who participates. Thank you for helping us build something that connects books, language, and community in such a meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1755734538423,"projectUrl":"project/turning-pages-taking-steps-a-storywalk/9623893/","projectTitle":"Turning Pages, Taking Steps: A Storywalk for Families","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Spears","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9285628_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695127270404","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9285628"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75020","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":502,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":70,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":63.0,"schoolId":75020,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bayyari Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bayyari Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/springdale-public-schools/bayyari-elementary-school/75020"}
