The variety of sensory tools, from fidget items, a safe-isolated place to calm down, has helped students manage stress, anxiety, and overstimulation, enabling them to return to their tasks feeling more grounded and ready to learn. I've witnessed improvements in emotional regulation, as students are able to independently identify when they need a break and use the center to regain a sense of calm. This space has fostered a greater sense of self-awareness and confidence among my students, allowing them to engage more fully with their learning and participate more positively in classroom activities. The impact of the calming center has been invaluable in creating an inclusive environment where every student can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1733168068127,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-friendly-kindergarten-classroom/8705890/","projectTitle":"Sensory Friendly Kindergarten Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. White","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2180550_orig.jpg?crop=1179,1179,x0,y188&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724677524106","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2180550"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54772","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":371,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":42,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":59.0,"schoolId":54772,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sherwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sherwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/pulaski-county-special-school-district/sherwood-elementary-school/54772"}
