I teach in a high poverty area where most homes do not have books. I appreciate your donation to provide a rich literacy environment for my students. Your donation purchased over 15 books for my classroom. We received books from all different genres.\r\n\r\nI love to read and encourage my students to read! When the school year begins, I hear numerous complaints and groans about reading. I show them a chart with how many words they are exposed to by reading. For example, if a student reads 20 minutes a day, they are exposed to 1.8 million words a year. My students read books independently and complete book talks and projects. We read books together and do lessons and activities from the story. You can see that I need a large selection of books for my students. My goal is to instill in my students a love or respect for Reading!
