Your kindness and willingness to support my students mean more than I can fully express. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference, and your gift will help create a classroom environment that feels comfortable, welcoming, and ready for learning each day. For several years, my students and I have been using the same classroom rug. It has served many children well, but after years of daily use, it has become worn and is now ready to be replaced. In an elementary classroom, a rug is much more than a piece of furniture or decoration. It is truly one of the most important gathering spaces in the room. It is where we begin our mornings, listen to stories, participate in lessons, practice new skills, work with partners, celebrate accomplishments, and build a strong classroom community. The rug is often the place where students feel most connected to one another and to their teacher. Because of your generosity, my students will soon have a clean, comfortable, and inviting space where they can gather throughout the school day. A new rug will help make our classroom feel more homey and welcoming while also giving students a special place to learn, connect, and feel a sense of belonging. I want every child who enters my classroom to feel safe, valued, supported, and excited to be there. Your donation is helping me create that kind of environment. When students feel comfortable and cared for, they are better able to focus, participate, take academic risks, and grow both socially and emotionally. Your gift will also allow me to use more of my personal classroom funds for other materials and resources that directly support student learning. Teachers often spend a great deal of their own money to make their classrooms functional, engaging, and welcoming, so your support truly lightens that responsibility. Please know that this donation will be appreciated and used every single day. Each time my students gather on the rug for a read-aloud, a class discussion, a small-group lesson, a morning meeting, or a moment of celebration, your generosity will be part of that experience. Your support will touch many students, not only this year, but for years to come. Thank you for believing in the importance of education, supporting teachers, and investing in children. Your thoughtful contribution is helping transform our classroom into a place where students can feel at home while they learn, grow, and build lasting memories. We are deeply grateful for your generosity, your encouragement, and the lasting difference your donation will make in our classroom community. This new rug will become a central part of our routines and provide students with a dependable space that belongs to them. It will welcome children during exciting lessons, quiet reading moments, meaningful conversations, and times when they need encouragement. Your generosity reminds my students that people in their community care about their success and believe their education matters.","fullyFundedDate":1723658513232,"projectUrl":"project/first-grade-essentials/8472359/","projectTitle":"First Grade Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vargas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9018329"},{"teacherId":10385870,"projectId":9961681,"letterContent":"My 5th grade students loved the educational journey we took through Bridge to Terabithia through your donations. Not only were we able to meet academic standards through this book study, but we also were able to compare and contrast the book to the movie- students loved this idea! \r\n\r\nSome of the standards that we were able to work on were compare and contrast, character analysis, and summary. Students were able to compare and contrast the following ideas throughout the book: characters and their actions, and the book to the movie. Students were able to identify internal and external conflicts for the characters throughout the book which gave them a deeper understanding of how characters develop. Students always have difficulty with writing summaries, however with this book study they were able to write summaries for each chapter as well as a novel summary! It was truly amazing to see them dive into the book and enjoy learning while doing it!","fullyFundedDate":1767209324813,"projectUrl":"project/opening-worlds-one-book-at-a-time/9961681/","projectTitle":"Opening Worlds - One Book at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rosenberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10385870"},{"teacherId":10357452,"projectId":9909718,"letterContent":"The Donors Choose donation had a meaningful and lasting impact on my 5th grade classroom in Fort Smith. Because of this support, every student had access to a copy of Holes, allowing us to engage in a shared novel study experience. Students were able to read the book together in class, which strengthened comprehension, built vocabulary, and encouraged rich discussions about characters, themes, and plot.\r\n\r\nAt the conclusion of the novel, students watched the film adaptation, which created high engagement and excitement while reinforcing their understanding of the story. This led to a powerful learning opportunity as students compared and contrasted the book and movie. They applied critical thinking skills to analyze similarities and differences in characters, setting, and events.\r\n\r\nThe unit culminated in a written essay, where students practiced organizing their thoughts, using text evidence, and clearly expressing their ideas. Overall, this experience not only improved literacy skills but also increased student confidence, participation, and enthusiasm for reading. The Donors Choose donation truly helped create an engaging, meaningful learning experience that my students will remember.","fullyFundedDate":1765470625490,"projectUrl":"project/opening-doors-through-books-in-fort-smit/9909718/","projectTitle":"Opening Doors Through Books in Fort Smith","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Erickson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10357452"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56291","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":521,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":63,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":65.7,"schoolId":56291,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sunnymede Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sunnymede Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/fort-smith-school-district/sunnymede-elementary-school/56291"}
