We use them during math lessons to solve problems on whiteboards, show our thinking as we prepare for state testing, and respond to quick checks for understanding. The students also love using them during free-draw time, giving them a creative outlet while practicing fine motor skills. Because these markers are high quality, they will last well beyond this school year, making them a reliable classroom staple rather than something that constantly needs replacing.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the large supply, they were thrilled—several of them even said, \"We won't have to share the dried-out ones anymore!\" In our Title I school, where 90% of students receive free or reduced lunch, many families struggle to provide extra materials. Parents have expressed so much gratitude knowing they won't be asked to purchase more Expo markers throughout the year. Having this resource fully supplied takes pressure off families and makes learning more equitable for every child.\r\n\r\nThese markers will continue supporting students as we work through current lessons and prepare for upcoming state assessments. They allow students to interact with material in hands-on, meaningful ways, and help me quickly see who understands a concept and who needs support. Thanks to these donations, my students can focus on learning—not on worrying whether their materials will run out.","fullyFundedDate":1761443895658,"projectUrl":"project/dry-erase-your-worries/9437182/","projectTitle":"Dry Erase Your Worries","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bellamy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8000516_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y372&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629945071048","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8000516"},{"teacherId":8000516,"projectId":9437204,"letterContent":"Our classroom has already begun making great use of the new chair and wobbly stool, and they've brought a noticeable shift in both comfort and engagement. The larger chair has become a special spot—for me during instruction, for students presenting in front of the class, and even as a reward seat for those showing exceptional effort or behavior. It's amazing how something so simple can motivate students and make them feel proud when they earn the chance to use it. The chair has added a warm, inviting touch to our room and has helped create a more positive environment for learning and sharing.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new seating, they were immediately curious and excited. Many of them asked if they'd ever get to sit in \"the big chair,\" and their faces lit up when I explained how it would be used for presentations and rewards. Their sense of ownership over the space grew instantly, and it encouraged them to put more effort into their behavior and classwork.\r\n\r\nThe wobbly stool has already made a meaningful impact, especially for the student with ADHD who struggles to stay still during lessons. Having a seat that allows gentle movement has helped her focus longer and feel more comfortable without disrupting her learning. This simple tool has opened the door for her to be more confident and successful, and I know it will continue supporting future students with similar needs. Thanks to these thoughtful additions, our classroom is becoming a more inclusive, motivating, and engaging space for every learner.","fullyFundedDate":1761443896111,"projectUrl":"project/lets-get-flexible/9437204/","projectTitle":"Let's Get Flexible","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bellamy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8000516_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y372&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1629945071048","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8000516"},{"teacherId":8000516,"projectId":9437158,"letterContent":"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of new headphones. The new books you helped provide have brought joy, curiosity, and learning into the hands of so many young readers.\r\n\r\nMany of you are book lovers yourselves—and like you, our students are discovering the power of stories. But beyond just reading for pleasure, these new texts are helping our students build important skills. Through the books you've provided, they are learning how to:\r\n\r\nAsk and answer questions about what they read\r\n\r\nUnderstand characters' feelings and motivations\r\n\r\nMake predictions and inferences\r\n\r\nExplore new cultures, perspectives, and ideas\r\n\r\nUse context clues to understand unfamiliar words\r\n\r\nBuild confidence reading both independently and in groups\r\n\r\nIn our classroom and library, reading doesn't just mean sitting quietly with a book (though that happens, too!). It means excited voices discussing plot twists, students huddled over pages sounding out tricky words together, and wide eyes lighting up at new facts or magical adventures. It's the hum of curiosity growing stronger every day.\r\n\r\nSome books have sparked special moments for particular students. One shy second grader who used to avoid reading time now rushes in to check out the next book in a series she's fallen in love with. A group of third graders started their own informal book club—meeting during lunch to talk about a graphic novel they all love. These stories are building not just literacy skills, but community.\r\n\r\nYour support is giving our students more than books—you're giving them the tools to become lifelong readers and learners.
