Because of your donation, over 100 students have now experienced using clay and creating ceramic objects and vessels. Not only did all of my art students get to have this exciting hands on learning experience, but I was also able to rotate even more students through our daily extension/intervention time. I was able to teach them the basics of ceramics, along with the process of handbuilding. Some students handbuilt small sculptures, while others chose to make vessels. My Art II students learned about the history of face jugs and each student was able to design, make, and glaze large face jugs of their own. We were also able to experiment with a variety of glazes. We will continue to use these supplies for more glaze experimentation, learning to use the pottery wheels, and handbuilding more sculptures and vases.\r\nMost of our students had never worked with clay before and had not used any glazes ever. When they saw how many types and colors we were given, they were so unbelievably surprised and excited. We are still working on creating sample tiles so they can really see the results of each glaze. They were very excited to receive the tools as well. We did not have very many before, and many of the tools were ones they had never had access to or ever even seen before. They loved how detailed they were able to get their pieces by using the new tools. Next month, my advanced classes will begin working on the pottery wheels to create utilitarian vessels. We will be using these supplies for years to come. Words can't express the gratitude I have for your large donation and how elated our students are. May you all be blessed for your great generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1731259030270,"projectUrl":"project/clay-to-creation-exploring-wheel-hand-/8929906/","projectTitle":"Clay to Creation: Exploring Wheel, Hand-Building, and Glazing Techniques","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Henderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9830549"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46962","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":364,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"9.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":46962,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about DeWitt High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"DeWitt High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/dewitt-school-district-1/dewitt-high-school/46962"}
