Students were immediately excited when they saw the paints organized in their trays.\r\n\r\nWe began using the paints in our \"Walk with a Line\" paintings. Students first created lines that traveled across their paper, and then used the new tempera cakes to add color to the different spaces their lines created. Because the paints were arranged in warm and cool color groups, students were able to clearly see the difference between the color families and make choices about how to paint each section.\r\n\r\nMost recently, students used the paints to complete a still life painting of apples. With the variety of reds, yellows, greens, and warm/cool variations available, students were able to look closely at real apples and mix and select colors that looked realistic. They practiced observation skills and discovered that apples are not just \"one red,\" but actually contain many different shades and tones. The tempera cakes made it easy for them to experiment and build their confidence with painting. \r\n\r\nThere new materials have already made a huge difference in our art room. They allow students to explore color theory, develop painting techniques, and take pride in creating artwork that feels vibrant and expressive.
