I had requested water bottles so that each student could have access to drinking water wherever they may be. Since Arizona tends to be hot and we express how important it is to drink water, I felt this would be successful towards their learning. Since students ask to leave during classroom time this would lesson that and decrease the missing out on learning. I also asked for sunglasses that were an extra token. These could help protect their eyes from the sun. \r\n\r\n The water bottles were given to each student with a little extra to help keep them hydrated inside and outside of school. My students were so excited that they all wanted to fill them up right away and start using them. Many of my students began decorating them with stickers and markers that they had access to in the classroom. They were also wearing their sunglasses at our extra recess time and excited to tell others where they got them. \r\n\r\nThe next step to a lesson will be water conservation and how to stay safe during the summer!","fullyFundedDate":1746785931643,"projectUrl":"project/staying-hydrated-in-phoenix-summer/9252131/","projectTitle":"Staying Hydrated in Phoenix Summer","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harrison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8641073_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y254&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661189828765","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8641073"},{"teacherId":9706918,"projectId":8943960,"letterContent":"Thank You from the Bottom of My Heart! \r\n\r\nI just wanted to take a moment to say thank you, truly. Your generous support means more than you know, not just to me, but to every little reader who will walk through our library doors this year.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, our kindergarten and first-grade students will now have a space where they can explore, discover, and fall in love with reading on their own. The book bins you helped provide will give them the independence to browse our shelves easily, choosing stories that excite their imagination and curiosity. For many of them, this will be the first time they feel like the library truly belongs to them and that's a powerful thing.\r\n\r\nThe cozy seating you made possible will give them a warm, inviting place to settle in with their books. You didn't just help fund furniture you helped build a safe and welcoming environment where reading becomes a joy, not a chore.\r\n\r\nAnd the new books? You've opened the door to new worlds, new characters, and new dreams. I've already had students light up at the sight of a new book they couldn't wait to read and it's all because of you.\r\n\r\nAs a librarian, I always say that books are just the beginning. What you've done goes far beyond materials, you've invested in confidence, imagination, and possibility.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and for being a part of their journey. This is my first time teaching the After School Academy, and we had been so excited to hear we would have a garden built. I had visions teaching the students about the \"three sisters\" that Native Americans plant, learning about medicinal uses for plants like aloe vera, having each of them take home a squash they grew, and other fun things. When we heard the plans for the outside garden fell through, we were very sad but decided to do the best we could. This is where your generous donation came in! The students have still been able to grow plants and taste them, watch them grow and nurture them, and see how roots form and conditions like fertilizer and light affect them.\r\n\r\nEach day, the students come in excited to see how the plants have grown, and make sure they have enough water and fertilizer. One of the students, a 6th grader, enjoys the taste of coriander seeds, and ate a few before we could plant them! The students had a great time putting the gardens together, and they experienced some challenges with determining where the lights should be for best growth. One of the students, a 4th grade girl, wears her \"garden pants\" (jeans with flowers embroidered on them) to ASA.\r\n\r\nYour generous donation made it possible for these students to experience gardening, learn to work as a team to assemble the gardens, and made other students wonder what we were doing and growing in Garden Club! The students are excited to eat the salads they grew. They often forget to bring a jacket in the cold months and we are able to serve those needs through having hangers.
