Make a donation Ms. Wilkey can use on her next classroom project.
Your donation will allow my low-income students the opportunity to read their first chapter book using classroom supports such as choral reading and popcorn reading while helping support reading fluency as well as reading comprehension using books that teach students about perseverance.
"Loser" and "Out of My Mind" are amazing books that focus on a protagonist with GRIT. These characters have a passion and perseverance that I want my student to emulate. I want to use these chapter books because they highlight the impact of bullying and disabilities in education and will teach my students to have empathy for people different from themselves.
The book study of "Loser" and "Out of My Mind" will help guide my students reading. I have book study worksheets for both books that I have made to apply the readings to the state standards for each chapter book. I will have students define vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, summarize skills, do extension activities, as well as complete an end of reading assessment. Thank you for your donation!
