With these resources, we set a clear goal: to improve collaboration, create opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding in a variety of ways, and build a safe space where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing together.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and manipulatives have transformed the way students engage with mathematics. Instead of passively recording answers, students now actively show their thinking, test ideas, revise strategies, and explain their reasoning. The whiteboards, in particular, have encouraged students to share their work more openly. Because their thinking can be easily revised, students are more willing to try new approaches, make mistakes, and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also strengthened collaboration. Students frequently work together to solve problems, compare strategies, and build on each other's ideas. Manipulatives allow students to physically model concepts, making abstract ideas more accessible and encouraging rich mathematical discussions among peers.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the resources have helped foster a classroom culture where students feel safe to participate and take academic risks. Students are more willing to contribute their thinking, even when they are unsure, because the environment emphasizes learning and growth rather than simply getting the correct answer. As a result, students are developing deeper conceptual understanding and greater confidence in their mathematical abilities.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generosity of DonorsChoose supporters, our classroom has become a more interactive, collaborative, and supportive learning environment. These materials are helping students engage more deeply with mathematics and with one another, creating meaningful learning experiences that will support their growth well beyond this classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768775983145,"projectUrl":"project/collaboration-and-community/10040354/","projectTitle":"Collaboration and Community","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McKechnie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2745830"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59329","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":410,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":45,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.8,"schoolId":59329,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dodge Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dodge Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/tucson-unified-school-district/dodge-magnet-school/59329"}
