The bookshelf provides a dedicated space for both advanced-level texts and various other resources, allowing students to easily access books that challenge and inspire them. This structure has helped eliminate the chaos of scattered books and materials, making the classroom feel more ordered and peaceful.\r\n\r\nMy gifted students especially benefit from the variety of books available, ranging from complex non-fiction texts to thought-provoking fiction. With a well-organized bookshelf, students can quickly find what they need, allowing them to dive deeper into their interests without wasting time searching for materials. The clear organization of the books also gives them the autonomy to choose texts that align with their learning goals, further enhancing their focus and curiosity.\r\n\r\nHaving a clean, neatly arranged bookshelf has created a more inviting, calm space where students can retreat for independent reading or research. This setup fosters a quiet, productive atmosphere that encourages deeper concentration and higher-level thinking, which is essential for their growth and engagement. Overall, the addition of the books and bookshelf has significantly contributed to a more organized, peaceful environment, where gifted students can flourish.","fullyFundedDate":1732499760574,"projectUrl":"project/fostering-a-supportive-learning-environm/8959426/","projectTitle":"Fostering a Supportive Learning Environment for My Gifted Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Moreno Bilger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8388508_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732493333513","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8388508"},{"teacherId":8653632,"projectId":8974716,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for funding my project \"Delicious Book Candy to Treat New Readers.\" I waited until all of the books had arrived and together as a class we opened and unpacked all of the books. The students were so excited to see some of their favorites like Magic Tree House and Sophie Mouse and intrigued by some new titles like Sadiq and The Never Girls. I wish you could have been there to feel all of the excitement in the room. There is nothing quite like the look, feel and smell of a new book!\r\n\r\nThe students now take great pride in displaying the new books in our classroom library. They look so pretty all lined up on the shelf. Students always keep a book in their desk too for when they have a few minutes between lessons. We also spend at least 15-20 minutes each day quietly reading for pleasure. The new books are very popular. One student named Esmond is in love with the Magic Treehouse graphic novels. He is determined to read all four and I know that this will be just the start to a habit of reading for pleasure. \r\n\r\nI am glad that I requested multiple copies of some of the books. I overheard two girls saying the other day that they want to read a Sophie Mouse book at the same time so they can talk about it during lunch. I read aloud the first of the Boxcar Children and now Zhurina told me she read the second book all by herself. She was so proud of her accomplishment.\r\n\r\nHonestly I can't thank you enough for the gift of these books. They are making a great impact. My students will always remember the pride that they felt when they finished a beautiful book. Thank you for helping me to hook them on reading and hook them on a life time of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1734570561282,"projectUrl":"project/delicious-book-candy-to-treat-new-reader/8974716/","projectTitle":"Delicious Book Candy to Treat New Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. K.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8653632_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732816898221","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8653632"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60153","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":603,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":44,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.7,"schoolId":60153,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tavan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tavan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/scottsdale-unified-school-district/tavan-elementary-school/60153"}
